People ask us whether the TVS NTorq 150 is a proper scooter for a trip or just for the city. It's a 150cc, so it's more than a city scooter, and less than a geared bike on the big hills. This is what it is, who it suits and what renting it involves. Price, photos and booking are on the TVS NTorq 150 page.

What it is
A 150cc petrol scooter with an automatic gearbox, so there are no gears to manage. It has ABS and a TFT display that shows turn-by-turn directions from your phone over Bluetooth. A phone holder and a USB charger are fitted, and a helmet fits under the seat. It seats two, and we give a helmet for you and your pillion.
Who it suits
- City days and Kamakhya. It has no gears, so Guwahati traffic is simple.
- Two people going to Shillong. The 150cc engine handles the climb on NH6 better than a 125cc scooter. Start early and take the hill section slowly.
- A smaller budget. It's ₹899 a day, against ₹999 for the Yamaha FZ-S FI V2.
Who should take a geared bike instead
Anyone heading to Tawang who won't stop to let the brakes cool. The TVS NTorq 150 is slow on the climbs (25 to 30 kmph on the steep stretches is normal at that altitude), and with no gears it can't use engine braking on the long descent from Sela. Read Can you ride a scooter to Tawang? before you decide.
Luggage
A helmet fits under the seat. For an overnight trip, a small backpack is the easiest way to carry the rest.
What renting it involves
| One day | ₹899 |
| A week | ₹5,664 (10% off for 7 days or more) |
| Distance included | 300 km a day |
Pickup is at Maligaon, 2 km from Kamakhya station. We don't take a security deposit on the vehicle. Instead we collect a deposit covering a full tank of fuel, and settle it when you return the scooter. Scooters are allowed to Shillong and beyond. For more, see scooty on rent in Guwahati and the Shillong bike and scooty page.
Other scooters you can rent
Helmet included, no vehicle deposit
The other scooter we rent is the Yamaha RayZR 125 Fi Hybrid Street Rally, which is a lighter 125cc scooter.
FAQs
Can two people ride the TVS NTorq 150 to Shillong? Yes. Two-up is fine, and the 150cc engine climbs better than a 125cc scooter. Start early, take the hills slowly, and we give a helmet for your pillion too.
Can I take it to Tawang? We allow it, and it can make the trip, but it's slow and has no engine braking on the descent. Stop every 15 to 20 minutes to let the brakes cool, give yourself 5 to 6 days and pack light. If you won't do that, take a geared bike.
How much is it per day and per week? ₹899 a day. For a week it's ₹5,664 with the long-rental discount.
Is there storage? A helmet fits under the seat. For an overnight trip, a small backpack is the easiest way to carry the rest.
