The longer trip gets the lower day rate. The day rate includes the driver, fuel, tolls, the driver's food and stay, the night halt and the km per day. Parking is not included. The final rate can be discussed over a call or email.
The 5-day plan
- Day 1: Guwahati to Bomdila or Dirang via Bhalukpong, where you enter Arunachal Pradesh. Overnight to acclimatise.
- Day 2: over Sela Pass to Tawang, with a stop at Sela Lake.
- Day 3: Tawang Monastery and the War Memorial.
- Day 4: back over Sela to Dirang, for the hot springs and orchards.
- Day 5: Dirang to Guwahati, off the mountain roads before dusk.
The 7-day plan
- Day 1: Guwahati to Bomdila via Bhalukpong. Overnight at about 8,500 ft.
- Day 2: Bomdila to Dirang, a short drive, with the afternoon free.
- Day 3: Dirang to Tawang over Sela Pass.
- Day 4: Tawang Monastery and the War Memorial.
- Day 5: a high-altitude lake day if the roads are open, or a buffer day for weather.
- Day 6: Tawang back to Dirang or Bomdila.
- Day 7: down to Guwahati.
Which to choose
Five days is the minimum: two days up, a day in Tawang, and two days back. Seven days gives you time in Dirang and a buffer for weather, which we recommend from December to February, when Sela Pass can have snow. Whatever you choose, keep a buffer for landslides after rain.
