About the event
The Tawang Festival is Arunachal Pradesh's showcase of Monpa heritage, with masked dances, folk music, local crafts and food set in one of the highest towns in the Northeast. Tawang Monastery, the largest in India, is the backdrop.
The journey is half the trip. The road from Guwahati climbs through Bhalukpong, Bomdila and Dirang to Sela Pass at about 13,700 feet, and most travellers split it over two days.
